He was born to Shri Iehnoh Laloo and Ensliebon Kharlukhi in Jowai, Distt. Jaintia Hills (Meghalaya) on 27-Nov-1956. Dr. Wanweiroy completed B.A., M.A., M. Phil. and Ph.D. at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong and North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. He started his career as a Teacher. Kharlukhi is a Teacher and educationist. Dr Wanweiroy Kharlukhi served as the Chairman of the Forest Development Corporation, Government of Meghalaya from 2000 to 2001, and Chairman of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation. He was also Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board, Govt of Meghalaya from 2008 to 2009. Later, in 2020, Dr. Wanweiroy Kharlukhi was elected to Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya Constituency.
