Shri Tapir Gao is a famous politician, who belongs to the state of Arunachal Pradesh. He is serving as a Member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha, representing the East Arunachal Pradesh Lok Sabha Constituency. Tapir Gao won the 2024 General Parliament Election by defeating the rival candidate from INC, Bosiram Siram with a margin of 30421 votes. He contested the election as the candidate of the Bharatiya Janta Party.

He was born to Late Tapor Gao & Yamot Gao in West Siang of Arunachal Pradesh in 1964. Tapir Gao completed his M.A. (Pol. Sc.) at Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh. He started his political journey by joining the Youth wing of the Congress Party. Young Tapir is actively engaging in politics at college times. He was appointed as the president of the Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (I) from 1994 to 1996.

Tapir Gao served as the President of Arunachal Congress Youth Front (ACYF), Arunachal Pradesh from 1996-96. In 1999, he joined the BJP and became the Member of State Executive of BJP (1999). Later, he was appointed as the Member of the National Council of BJP from 1999 to 2003. In 2003, he was appointed as the Vice-President of B.J.P. of Arunachal Pradesh. After that, he debuted in politics by contesting in the 2004 Lok Sabha Election from East Arunachal Pradesh and was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha.
