Shyam Singh Rana, Cabinet Minister of Nayab Singh Saini-led Haryana State government 2024 is one of the leaders with vast experience of politics in the state politics of Haryana. He was an active member of the Indian National Lok Dal party, the party of the farmers of the Haryana state was founded by Om Prakash Chautala. He joined the BJP leaving after the INLD party and contested in the 2014 assembly election. SS Rana won the state assembly seat and joined the state assembly as a member of the legislative assembly of the Bhupendra Singh Hooda BJP government.
He also served as the BJP district president for a long time in his constituency. Shyam Singh did not contest in the 2019 assembly election and left the party opposing the Farmer Bill introduced by the Narendra Modi-led central government. He participated in the protest against the bill with the farmers of the state. But again Shri Shyam Singh Rana joined back Bhartiya Janta Party in 2023. Political analyst knows that the BJP is going to contest him in the state assembly elections in 2024.

He won the seat by a huge margin defeating his counterpart in the Indian National Congress Party. He was sworn in as the cabinet minister of the Haryana Government on 17th Oct 2024 under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
