Shri Shekhar Govindrao Nikam, a Maharashtrian politician of the Nationalist Congress Party is serving his second consecutive term as a member of the state legislative assembly. He contested in the assembly election 2024 as the representative of the NCP and NDA alliance candidate from the Chiplun assembly seat. Shekhar Nikam won the contest and joined the newly elected government of Maharashtra in October 2024.

He was born in the political family of Govindrao Nikam in 1966. His father also served as the Member of the Parliament from Ratnagiri constituency of Lok Sabha of the parliament of India. Shekhar Nikam started politics with his father and soon gained the support of the district voters with his father. He first contested in the stated assembly election in 2019 and secured the MLA seat for the NCP.

In the state assembly election 2024, Shekhar Nikam retained his seat from the Chiplun constituency. He defeated his nearest rival Prashant Baban Yadav of the NCP- (Sharad Pawar) party by a narrow margin of only Six thousand eight hundred votes securing a total of 96,555 votes. Now Shekhar Nikam lives in Mumbai City with his family. He has his political office in Ratnagiri District at his permanent residence.
