Praful Patel, a senior politician from Maharashtra state of the Nationalist Congress Party is currently serving as a member of the upper house of the Parliament of India. He has been active in state politics since 1985 in the local body election in the Gondia district. Praful Patel served as a Member of the Municipal Council of Gondia from 1985 to 1991. He was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha 2024 and served his fifth term as a member of the upper house of Parliament.

He was born into the family of former congress leader Manoharbhai Patel. His father served as a Member of the Maharashtra State Assembly. His father died when Praful was only 13 years old.
