Nirmala Sitharaman, Current Finance Minister and former Defence minister was born on 18 Aug 1959 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu State of India. Nirmala Sitharaman has done his schooling and graduated (with a Bachelor of Arts) from Madras Tiruchirappalli. She moved to New Delhi to complete his M. Phil from Jawahar Lal University. In JNU, she met his future husband Parakala Prabhakar and they got married in 1986. She enrolled in PhD in Economics at the university but left and moved to London with her husband.
She is the Second Woman after Indira Gandhi who served full-time Ministry of Defence and Finance. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman joined politics after coming back to India in 2008 with the membership of BJP. She was elected to the Upper House of the Parliament. After winning in General Election in 2014, PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah selected her for the team of Ministers of the Government. She headed the Defence Ministry in the first term of MP. In her term as a Defence minister, the Ministry of Air Force attacked the terrorist camp of Balakot.
