Manish Tewari, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress and current member of Lok Sabha was born in 1965 in Chandigarh. His father Vivek Tiwari was a professor at Punjab University and his mother was a dean at PGI of Medical Education and Research. His Father was killed by Khalsa Militant in the early morning at his house. He finished his schooling in Chandigarh and moved to Punjab University and did his graduation. Manish Tewari moved to New Delhi and appeared for his law degree from Delhi University. He is residing in New Delhi with his wife Naznin Shifa & Daughter.
Later, he joined the National Student Union of India while he was studying Law at Delhi University. and their interest in politics led him to serve as the union minister in the central government in 2012. After Studying he started Law practice in the Supreme Court of India and the Punjab High Court. His political career started as the president of NSUI and he contested the Lok Sabha election in 2004 and served as the Union Minister in Manmohan Singh-led UPA government.
