Mamata Mohanta, a Renowned politician and social activist from Odisha state is serving her second consecutive term as a member of the Upper House of the Parliament of India. She was elected unopposed from the Odisha Rajya Sabha seat as the candidate in the RS poll 2022. Earlier in the first term she was contested in the as the candidate of Biju Janta Dal. Her political career started in the Local body elections of Dist. Mayurbhanj.

She was born in the family of the Kudmi community of Baburam Mohanta and Shrimati Golap Manjari Mohanta in 1976 in dist. Maryubhanj. Mamata Mohanta was brought up in her hometown and moved to Hri Maa Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Utkal University, Baripada to obtain higher education. After her graduation, she involved herself in social service to uplift the Kudmi community of her hometown.
