Shri Sanajaoba Leishemba, Maharaja of Manipur princely state is currently serving his first term as a member of the Rajya Sabha of the Parliament of India. He was fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Rajya Sabha elections 2020 from Manipur state. Leishemba belongs to the Royal family of Manipur Princly sate. He was the first person who entered politics.

Sanajaoba Leishemba was born in the Royal Dynasty of Manipur princely state in 1972 in Imphal Manipur. His father Maharaja Okendrajit was the last maharaja of the the princely state of Manipur. He completed his schooling in his hometown and earned a bachelor’s degree from Maharaja Bodhchandra College.

Manipur’s princely state was established in 1912 by Loiyumba of the Meitei community. But by that time it was ruled by various invaders in medieval history. Sanajaoba Leishemba was Sworn in as the Maharaja of the Princely state after his father’s death. He was in the social service in the Manipur state after his education. Maharaja Sanajaoba accepted the offer to join the Bhartiya Janta Party in 2020. Sanajaoba Leishemba is currently living in New Delhi and representing the Manipur state in the Rajya Sabha.
