Dr. Laxmikant Bajpayee, a Senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh is serving her first term as a member of the Rajya Sabha of the Parliament of India. Bajpayee is also serving as the national vice president of Bhartiya Janta Party. He started his political career as a member of the Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad at his college in Meerut. Laxmikant served as the president of Yuva Morcha of the Janta Party in 1977. He served as the president of UP Bhartiya Janta Party twice.

Dr Bajpayee was born in 1951 in Meerut, UP. After finishing his graduation from Meerut and Kanpur Universities he Joined Rishikul Rajakiya Ayurvedic College, Haridwar, and earned a BEMS degree. He was first contested in the UP state assembly elections in 1989 and joined the state assembly. Dr. Laxmikant Bajpayee served four successful terms as a member of the UP state assembly. In his long tenure, he held many ministerial positions in the state assembly.
