Dr. Lata Wankhede, a Bharatiya Janta Party politician from Madhya Pradesh state is currently serving as a member of the lower house of the parliament. Dr Lata contested first time in the general election of the Lok Sabha from the Sagar constituency of the MP state. She won the contest defeating Chandra Bhusan Singh Bundela aka Guddu Raja of the Indian National Congress Party and the INDIA alliance candidate. Lata Wankhede secured 787,979 votes and won the election by more than three lakh sixteen thousand votes. She is serving her first term as a member of the Lok Sabha.
She was born in District Damoh in the family of Keshavrao and Leela Bodh in 1970. After schooling she joined Hari Singh University Sagar for higher education she finished her MA in Sociology, Journalism, and Economics before completing her Ph.D. Lata Wankhede entered into politics and social service after education. She was appointed as the Chairperson of the State Women Commission.
