He received his B.Sc education at Fateh High School and Maharana Bhupal College, Udaipur, and married Shrimati Shantha Bai Siroya in April 1969, from whom he has two sons and a daughter. He is a Political and Social Worker by profession. Lahar Singh has been a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council for two consecutive terms.
