Kumari Selja, a Renowned politician former union minister, and current member of the parliament of India was born in Prabhuwala in 1962. Prabhuwala was in the Punjab state before the separation of Haryana and Now is in Hissar, Haryana. Her father Chodhary Dilbar Singh was also the politician of the Congress party. She belongs to the Chamar OBC community of the state. Selja Kumari finished her schooling in New Delhi and moved to Hissar and completed her graduation and P graduation from Punjab University. Her mother Kalawati was a homemaker. She joined politics as a member of the Mahila Morcha of the Indian National Congress Party.

She worked hard while she was an active member of the Mahila Morcha of the Congress Party. Later she was appointed as the president of Haryana Congress Mahila Morcha. Kumari Selja decided to stay unmarried and keep his social work for the OBC community of the state. She was first introduced as the candidate of the Congress party in the general election of 1991 from Sirsa Lok Sabha Constituency. Kumari Selja won the election and joined the Parliament of India as the representative of the Sirsa Constituency.
