Kapil Sibal senior Congress leader and chairman of the Supreme Court Bar Council is currently representing the Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh state. He was born to a migrated Hindu family from Pakistan during the partition in Jalandhar in 1948. Later his family moved to New Delhi and Kapil Sibal completed his schooling in Delhi before he joined St. Stephen’s College for BA. After graduation, he completed his LLB and moved to Harvard University for his Higher Education.
Before joining politics he was appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India in 1994, Kapil Sibal was elected as Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament in 1998. In 2004, he contested as the candidate of the Indian National Congress for the Lok Sabha election from Chandni Chowk seat. He defeated Sushma Swaraj of the Bharatiya Janta Party and first time became the Lok Sabha member of the parliament. Currently, he is serving as Supreme Court Bar Association president and Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh.
