Kamlesh Paswan, Bhartiya Janta Party politician from UP State and current member of parliament was born in the political family of Om Prakash Paswan in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh in 1976. His mother was also active in politics and served as a member of the Lok Sabha of the parliament in 1996 as the candidate of the Samajwadi party. He finished his schooling in Gorakhpur and graduated from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University. His father was murdered while he was on the way to attend a political rally in Bansgaon City.

After the death of Kamlesh Paswan’s father, her mother contested in the general election in 1996 as the candidate of the Samajwadi Party. She won the contest and joined the Parliament of India. Kamlesh’s mother left the Samajwadi party and joined the Bhartiya Janta Party. BJP nominated her as the candidate for the Bansgaon State Assembly election in 2012, but BJP leader Yogi Adityanath opposed the decision and nominated his candidate against her, She lost the election and after her defeat, she never contested the election. She also introduced her son to politics as a member of the Bhartiya Janta Party. Shri Kamlesh Paswan secured the Maniram State assembly seat in the 2002 assembly elections and became a member of the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh as a member of the Samajwadi party.

Kamlesh Paswan never looked back on his political career after winning the state assembly seat. He left the Samajwadi Party in 2009 and joined Bhartiya Janta Party. He was introduced as the reserved seat of Bansgaon as the candidate of the General election 2009. Kamlesh won the contests of the election defeating his Samajwadi counterpart by a huge margin. Paswan became the permanent contestant of the Bansgaon Lok Sabha constituency as the young leader was supported by the voters of his constituency.
