Shri Kalipada Saren Kherwal is a renowned Indian Politician, Saotali-language playwright, writer, literary figure, and editor from West Bengal. He is an incumbent Member of the Lok Sabha and was elected to the 18th Lok Sabha from the Jhargram constituency by defeating BJP candidate Dr Pranat Tudu with a margin of 1,74,048 votes. Kalipada Saren is a Member of the All Indian Trinamool Congress.

He was born in Raghunathpur of Jhargram subdivision (now Jhargram district) of undivided Medinipur district of West Bengal on 9th December 1957. His father, Tarachand Saren, was an amin of Jhargram Zamindar, and his mother was Kapu Saren. In 1984, Kalipada Saren obtained a master’s degree in Political Science from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Due to the family’s urge, he started his career at the State Bank of India in Calcutta, but he has a passion for writing.
