Hemant Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand State and founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has been active in Jharkhand state politics since before the separation of the Jharkhand from Bihar State with his father Shibu Soren. He was born in Ramgarh, Bihar in 1975. Hemant was one of the politicians who worked for the separation of the Jharkhand state from Bihar.

He is active in state politics with Jharkhand and served as the Chief Minister of the state twice from 2013-14 and 2019-24. Hemant Soren passed and was arrested by the ED (Enforcement Directorate) in the allegation of a Land Scam Case. He was freed on bail by the Supreme Court of India.
