Shri Harendra Singh Malik is a prominent Indian Politician and Member of the Samajwadi Party from Uttar Pradesh. He has been serving as a member of the Parliament in the Lok Sabha of India from Muzaffarnagar constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Harendra Malik won the 2024 General Election by defeating BJP candidate and two-time MP of Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha Constituency Sanjeev Kumar Balyan by a margin of 24,672 votes.

He was born on 15th February 1954 in Muzzafarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh to the marginal farmer family of Jagjit Singh and Smt Satyawati. Harendra Singh Malik completed his B.Sc.from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Malik started his political journey in 1978 contesting his first student union election at DAV College Muzaffarnagar. He was elected as a BDC member and contested for the post of Block Pramukh from Baghra. Still, his nomination was rejected due to age difference and later Harendra Malik’s elder brother was elected as Block Pramukh from Baghra.

However, Harendra Malik rigorously started his politics, and later in 1985, he was elected as MLA  Khatauli Constituneyc from  1985 to 1989 on the ticket of Lok Dal. Again he was elected as the MLA from Baghra Constituency from 1989 to 1996, as the candidate of Janta Dal. He served the next seven years for this constituency. Throughout his career, he has been a dedicated farmer’s leader, advocating for their interests at various levels. He also served as the Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from Haryana Constituency from 2002 to 2008.

Harendra Singh Malik also served as the State General Secretary of the Party from 2002 to 2004 and has been serving as the National General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party since 2022. Harendra Malik married Raj Kumari in 1976 and both have two children Pankaj Malik and Nishant Malik. His son Pankaj Malik is also pursuing a career in Politics and is a time MLA in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
