Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, a Senior politician of the Bhartiya Janta Party is currently serving as the Union Minister of Education in the third term of the BJP government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has had a long journey in politics in India. Dharmendra Pradhan first contested in direct electoral politics in the Odisha state assembly election in 2000 from the Pallahada constituency. His political journey started as the permanent activist of ABVP.

He was born in Talchar city in the Coal Mine area of Odisha state in the family of Debendra Pradhan (former politician of India) and Basanta Manjari Pradhan in 1969. After his schooling, Dharmendra Pradhan obtained a Master’s degree in Arts from the Utkal University of Odisha. In his long journey of around 40 years in politics he served various ministerial portfolios in Odisha and central government.

He was serving as the aber of Rajya Sabha from Odisha state before winning the Lok Sabha election in 2024 from Sambalpur constituency.
