Shri Bidyut Baran Mahato is an Indian politician and a senior BJP leader, serving his third consecutive term as a member of the Lok Sabha parliament. He was fielded as the candidate of the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha Constituency by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2024 General Parliamentary Election. Bidyut Baran won the election by defeating the rival candidate JMM party’s Samir Mohanty with a margin of 2,59,782 votes. He secured approximately 56.84% votes of the total vote percentage. 

Bidyut Baran Mahato was born to the  Surendra Mahato and Sushila Devi in Krishnapur, Sareikela Kharsawan, Jharkhand on 15 Febrary 1963.  He completed his I. Sc. at Tata College, Chaibasa. He is an agriculturist by profession. Shri Bidyut Mahato started social work before joining politics. He socially served and worked for the people of the Jharkhand state.

He started his political journey by joining the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Bidyut Baran also contested the 2009 Legislative Assembly Election from the Baharagora Assembly constituency and won by a margin of  17,154 votes. In 2024, he left the JMM joined the BJP, and contested for the 2014 General Lok Sabha Election. He secured 44.24% votes of the total vote percentage. Subsequently, Bidyut Mahato again won the 17th & 18th Lok Sabha Elections continuously. He lives as a parliamentarian at his official residence in New Delhi.
