Benny Behanan, senior Congress leader of the Kerala state is currently representing the Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency in the Parliament of India. He won the Lok Sabha seat defeating his counterpart by the margin of more the 60000 votes. Benny earlier served as the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Kerala state. He was the longest-serving general secretary of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee for 17 years.

His experience of state politics as the leader of the Congress party gave him consecutive victories in the 2024 general elections. He served as the MLA from the Piravom assembly constituency in 1982. Benny Behanan was contested in the general election in 2004 but defeated by the opposition leader. Behanan served as the president of the Student wing of the Kerala state.
