Shri Asit Kumar Mal is a famous Indian Politician from West Bengal, who has been serving as a member of the parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha since 2019, representing the Bolpur constituency. He won the 2024 General Parliamentary Election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Piya Saha with over maa margin of 3,27,253 votes. Asit Kumar has been a member of the Trinamool Congress since 2014 and was also affiliated with the Indian National Congress before 2014.

He was born to Shri Dharanidhar Mal and Kunti Mal in Margram, Birbhum, West Bengal on 11 July 1955. Asit Kumar graduated in University Entrance From Rampurhat College, University of Burdwan in 1974. He is a Social Worker by profession and his passion for social work inspired him to join politics. Asit Kr Mal was active in Politics during his college days. Asit Kumar has been a Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly for five consecutive times (1987,1996, 2001, 2006 & 2011-2016). In 2014 he resigned from INC and joined the AITC. Then, appeared in the 2019 Lok Sabha election and won by a huge margin.
