Shri Arvind Ganpat Sawant, a senior Marathi politician of Shiv Sena is currently serving his third term as a member of the parliament. Arvind Sawant contested as the candidate of the Shiv Sena- Uddhav Balasheb Thackery party from the Mumbai South constituency. This general election was the first after Shiv Sena left the National Democratic Alliance and he won the South Mumbai seat for the party. In the 2024 election, he defeated Yamini Jadhav of Shiv Sena( Shinde). Arvind Sawant also served as a member of the legislative assembly of Maharashtra State.
He was born in the family of Ganpat Pandurang Sawant and Aashalata Ganpat Sawant in Sindhudurg Maharashtra. Arvind Sawant obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mumbai and was appointed as an engineer at MTNL. He started social work in the Mumbai city while working as an engineer. Arvind Savant first contested in the state assembly election in 1996 after an early retirement from the government job. He won the elections and served till 2010 as a member of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.
