Anurag Thakur, a Former Cricketer, politician, and member of the lower house of Parliament of India was born in 1974 in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Anurag Singh Thakur finished his schooling in Jalandhar City, Punjab, and joined Doaba University for his higher education. He finished his bachelor’s degree in arts while he was playing cricket as his hobby. Anurag Thakur played his only first-class cricket match against the Jammu & Kashmir team.
His father Prem Kumar Dhumal is also an active politician in state politics. Prem Kumar Dhumal was the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Anurag Thakur became the president of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and worked to develop state cricket. He initiated to development international cricket stadium at Dharamshala Hill Station. He joined the Bharatiya Janta Party and was elected as a Lok Sabha Member from the Hamirpur seat of the state in 2008. Shri Anurag Thakur is serving as a member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha consecutively fifth time as a BJP Candidate.
