Anil Yashwant Desai, a former member of the Rajya Sabha, Upper House of the Parliament of India, and current member of Lok Sabha, the Lower House of the Parliament of India was born in Mumbai into a middle-class Marathi family. He was brought up in Mumbai City with his father Yashwant Desai and his mother Gulab Yashwant Desai and his siblings. Anil Desai completed his schooling and joined Mumbai University for Higher education. Later, he obtained a Law degree from Mumbai University.

Shri Anil Desai inclined toward politics since his college years. He was inspired by Bal Thackrey, Shiv Sena Supremo, and his Hindu ideology. Anil Desai joined Shiv Sena and started social service with his law practice in Mumbai city. He came close to Uddhav Thackrey, Son of Bal Thackrey through his continuous social service. Anil Yeshwant Desai never contested the Direct election till 2024. He was known as the man behind the president of Shiv Sena after the death of Shri Bal Keshav Thackeray.
