Anil Vij Senior BJP leader of Haryana BJP, Minister of the Current Haryana government, Hardcore nationalist, and Hidutvavadi politician was born in Ambala city of the Haryana state in 1953. He finished his schooling in Ambala and joined Punjab University for his higher education. Anil Vij graduated from Punjab University. He was an active member of the youth wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad. He served as the general secretary of the ABVP of the Haryana state at a young age.

In his log spell career in politics, he served many state ministerial posts in the Haryana government. He was first nominated in the Bi-lections in the Ambala constituency in 1990.
