Shri Alfred Kan-Ngam Arthur is a famous Indian politician from Manipur, India. He is a Member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha, representing the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency. He won the 2024 general election as the candidate of the Indian National Congress and defeated the NPF party’s candidate, Kachui Timothy Zimik, with a margin of 85,418 votes.

Alfred was born to A S Arthur and the Late Ayao Arthur in Shangshak Phunghon village in the Ukhrul district of Manipur in 1976. His father, A S Arthur is a retired Bureaucrat and a politician of Manipur. Before joining politics, Alfred Kan-Ngam had a short stint as a musician and a vocalist in a rock band. Alfred Kan-Ngam Arthur started his political journey as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. He was fielded in the Assembly Elections in Manipur as a Congress candidate in the 2012 general elections. However, Alfred Arthur lost the elections to his nearest rival, Samuel Risom from the Naga People’s Front by a narrow margin of 56 votes. Again in the 2017 General Assembly elections of Manipur, he was elected as the MLA from the Ukhrul Constituency and served till 2022. Later dedicatedly served as MLA, Alfred Kan-Ngam later contested the 2024 General Election and won it by a huge margin.
