Shri Ajit Pawar or Ajit Anantrao Pawar is currently serving his second consecutive term as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra state of India. He is a well-known Indian politician and current Chief of the Nationalist Congress Party of Maharashtra. In the state assembly election 2024, he contested from the Baramati assembly constituency and won the election defeating NCP(SP) and INDI Alliance contestant Yugendra Pawar by more than one lakh votes. He was born in Maharashtra in the family of Anantrao Govindrao Pawar in 1959. His family was in state politics and his uncle Sharad Pawar was in politics in the state. Shri Ajit Pawar joined Nationalist Congress Party with his uncle which was formed in 1999. He was a permanent member of the NNCP till 2023. Ajit Pawar departed from his uncle Sharad Pawar with a supporting MLA and joined the BJP and Shiv Sena Alliance (Maha Yuti) in the Maharashtra Government.
