Shri Balabhadra Majhi, a Politician from Odisha state, Ex-Chief Engineer of Railways is a member of the current Lok Sabha of the Parliament from Nabarangpur Lok Sabha constituency as the representative of the Bhartiya Janta Party. He joined politics after his government job in the Indian Railways as the chief Engineer remaining his 7 years of service. Balabhadra Majhi joined Biju Janta Dal (BJD) after his resignation and contested in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He is currently serving his second term as a member of the parliament.

Balabhadra was born in the family of Chandra Majhi and Suvarna Devi in 1961. His family belongs to the Scheduled tribe community of the Odisha state. He was brought up by his mother and finished his schooling at his native government school. Balabhadra Majhi completed his bachelor’s degree of Science in engineering from NIT Raurkela and joined the Indian Railway as a junior engineer.

Nabarangpur constituency was reserved for the ST by the Election Commission of India. As Nabarangpur is the hometown of the Balabhadra Majhi party gave preference to it in the contest. He won the election contest and joined the Parliament of India as a member of the 16th Lok Sabha. In the 2024 general election, Shri Balabhadra Majhi contested as the candidate of the BJP from the same constituency and joined the Parliament of India (lower house) second time.
