Shri Manohar Lal Khattar is a prominent Indian politician from Haryana and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is an incumbent member of parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha. Manoharlal was nominated by the BJP as the candidate from Karnal Lok Sabha Constituency for the 2024 General Election. He won the election by defeating the INC Candidate Divyanshu Budhiraja with a margin of 2,32,577 votes. Manohar Lal secured 54.83% votes of the total vote turnout.

He was born in 1954 in Rohtak, Haryana to the Punjabi Hindu family of Harbans Lal and Shanti Devi. His father, Harbans Lal Khattar, had migrated to the village from the Jhang district of West Punjab following the Partition of India in 1947. He completes his matriculation from Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government College, Rohtak. Senior Leader Manohar Lal Khattar later moved to Delhi and obtained a degree in B.A. from Delhi University. His political journey started with joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1977 and became a full-time Pracharak three years later.

Manohar Lal Khattar served as the RSS Parcharak for 17 years, then he joined the BJP in 1994. He served as the Organizational General Secretary of the BJP in Haryana from 2000 to 2014. He was the Chairman of BJP’s Haryana Election Campaign Committee for 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. Former CM Shri Manoharlal Khattar served as a Member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2014. During his MLA tenure, he has also served as the Leader of the House Haryana Legislative Assembly in 2014. Shri Manohar Lal Khattar also was the 10th Chief Minister of Haryana and served till 2024. He was replaced by Shri Nayab Singh Saini to become the new Chief Minister of Haryana.
