Vaiypuri Gopalsamy known as the Vaiko in Indian Politics was born in Madras Province of British in 1944. He became the famous Tamil leader of India after supporting the LITTE (Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam). The group was fighting for a separate Tamil country in Sri Lanka. Indian Government led by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi sent a peacekeeping force to fight with LITTE terrorists in Sri Lanka. That decision became the reason behind the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at a rally in Tamil Nadu.
He was one of the close politicians of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Karunanidhi. He was known for his anti-Hindi policy in the South Indian region. Vaiko started his political career with the D M K Party and now he is general secretary of the MDMK party. He was contested as the Rajya Sabha candidate from Tamil Nadu. Vaiko graduated from St. Xavier’s College and graduated post-graduation from Presidency College, Chennai.
