Politician and Diplomat Hardeep Singh Puri was born in New Delhi in 1952. He is known for his extraordinary work in the Indian Foreign Service. After retirement, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and was introduced as the candidate of the Upper House, Rajya Sabha by the party in 2020. Hardeep Singh Puri won the election unopposed from the Uttar Pradesh Constituency. He served in the United Nations as the permanent representative of the Indian government for four years 2009-2013.
In the second term of the Modi Government, he was appointed as the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas on the introduction by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
