Ashokrao Shankarrao Chavan, Sitting MP of Rajya Sabha and son of Ex-Chief Minister Shankarrao Chavan was born the Chavan political dynasty in 1958. He was a member of the Indian National Congress party till 2024 and served on various higher posts of the party in the Maharashtra state before resigning from the primary membership of the party. He was appointed as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra state for 3 years. Later, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2024
His political life was full of Controversies. He was accused of corruption in the scam of Adarsh Housing Society in 2010. Shri Ashokrao Shankarrao Chavan served as the cabinet minister in the central government. Despite corruption allegations, he was nominated from Nanded Constituency in 2014 by the Indian National Congress party. He won the eat with a huge margin while the Congress party only won two seats in the state.
