Subhash Chandra Goenka is an Indian billionaire media baron and Former Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from Haryana State. He was elected to the 2016 Rajya Sabha election, as an independent candidate supported by legislators from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has no prior political experience. Subhash Chandra was born on 30 November 1950 to an Agarwal Bania family in Adampur, Hisar district, Haryana. His family had a debt of ₹3.5 lakh, which he had to repay. So, he dropped out of school, because his family could not afford his higher education. Later, Subhash Chandra joined the family business of commission agents and traders who procured and supplied rice to the Food Corporation of India.
