Suresh Kumar Shetkar, Politician and current member of the lower house of parliament was born in 1960 in the family of Shivrao Shetkar & Chandramma. He is one of the four children of the family and finished his schooling in his home town Naranyankhed Town of Medak district of Telangana. After schooling, he moved to Parbhani, Maharashtra. He completed his graduation from the Marathwada University of Agriculture in agriculture and moved back to his hometown.

Shri S.K. Shetkar started politics with his father who was a freedom fighter and a three-time member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Later he joined the Indian National Congress Party and contested for the Legislative Assembly in 2004. He won the legislative assembly election in 2004 from Narayankhed constituency. He contested in the general election of 2024 from the Zahirabad constituency and won the election defeating the BJP candidate by almost 40000 votes.
